Facebook > The Bible ?!!

We become the gods we worship ! 

How many hour do you spend on Facebook vs spending reading your bible !

You will become like Facebook , distracted , worried about your social appearance , confused on who your true friends are, experience lonelyness  , you do subjective things for approval from people you don't even know. 

When you read your  Bible you become more like your creator .(  Free from the bondage of this world ) 

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22:37-39 NLT)

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! (Galatians 5:22-23 NLT)

The Gospel in Genesis

Here is the summary of Gods plan of redemption hidden here within the genealogy in Genesis . 

God had already laid out His plan of redemption for the predicament of mankind . It is the beginning of a love story , (we are the beneficiaries)ultimately written in blood on a wooden cross which was erected in Judea 2014 years ago . 

How are you leading ?

How are you leading ? Do you lead by example with your family or disconnected from the sideline (outside ) 

If you think your leading people , but then you turn around and don't see anyone following , your on a long walk -Rick Warren 

Jesus was the perfect leader and example for us on how to love , live , pray, serve, grow , disciple , evangelize, worship and fellowship . 

He lead his disciples  by modeling what is look in the face of adversity , not on the sideline , or behind a desk . 

Jesus is radical ! Would you let him lead your life ?! 

A boss dictates , and deligated 

A leader walks with you and directs you selflessly 

Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. (John 13:14-16 NIV)

Phone love

Am guilty of this sometimes and it's sad .

 

We choose to have interactions with other people online and missing the real interaction that is happening right in front of us ( family ) 

Parents waste to much time in there phones or electronic while there kids that God entrusted them with are craving attention and affection . If we as parents don't take the time to bllead our children , I know someone who is dying to have that role .... He not a good role model , he's a lier , deceiver and manipulator . ( the enemy ) 

Don't give him that opportunity , set rules and boundaries on how you can become a better father, husband and leader ! 

I guarantee you that you won't be able to learn that on google !!! 

Jesus saves the world

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17 NIV)

 

Trust Jesus

Jesus ways are higher, bigger , better, brighter to use . 

Wouldn't our creator know what he  created us for . 

We get comfortable even with the little that we think have control over. Jesus cAme to give us a gift that no one can offer . Jesus died for us so that we would eternally and freely live with him . 

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9 NIV)

Jesus came for relationships

Each color and word represents our individuality and uniqueness representing That We are all Gods masterpiece ( Ephesians 2:10 )

At the end of the day we all serve ONE GOD!  Why do we compartmentalize our religous organizations  over relationship in doing what is right and just. 

Jesus came down to have a relationship with us and not to give us a religion . God is to big for religion

Are you a follower

This illustration was created to help me refocus my  attention on God . (friendly reminder ) . 

 Often time we get caught up in the numbers and comments of social media that it  distract us from  a relationship  with The Lord . 

I believe that social media is important to create bridge for us to share the gospel , however there are  times we focus to much time on social media instead of reading our bible . Am guilty ! 

MEANING 

1k comment=   represent all people talking  and commenting about his life , 

13k likes = represent the wickedness of humanity , the number 13 symbolically means rebellion and lawlessness , we say that we are Christians but we're not baring any fruit , 

12 followers = represent the disciples of Jesus , which all but one ( St. John ) were martyred and killed for the faith . 

Am not saying your not a follower of Christ, it's my point of view on what it truly means to follow Jesus with your entire life. 

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. (James 1:22 NLT)

I used spray can with a 2 layer stencil technique, and them added some fun graffiti textures . This is the final Kobe Mixed media illustration that I will sending of to make print . ( available ony website jgurbanart.com in couple days ) 

15th Street Elementary Logo

I was hired by the 15th Street Elementary School (San Pedro, LA County )  to design there school logo . 

There school mascot is a seagull, there theme they want to be know by is "life long Learners " .

With all that being said after 4 rendering I finally came us with something simple that incorporated all of simple elements of this design .  The Fyling High book title can from the students council at 15th .

15 street elementary school Mural

I had the amazing opportunity to work with the city of San Pedro , 

My goal was to creat a kids friendly mural inspired by the school student council. 

We had a community weekend that all the student had an opportunity to paint there own fish , sea horse ,underwater coral life . (Pre stencil the under water life for the student ) 

What a great turnout , we had about 280+ student , teacher volunteer ,principals ,and  city councilmen members from the 15 district .
